GLOSSARY OF TERMS

Classification – The age audience limit given to certain content in films

Graphic – An image generated by a computer

Iconography – Iconic symbols and images associated with certain people or things

Intertextual – The reference to other media texts in a media text to create extra meaning for the audience

Linear / non-linear – Editing that follows a logical sequence of time, beginning, middle, end (Linear) or non-linear editing that does not follow the logical sequence of time (Pulp Fiction)

Narrative – The organisation of events within a media text

Synopsis – A brief and concise statement giving an overview of the media text

Target audience- The specific group of people identified as the audience for a particular media text
